Prince William’s family holidays with wife Kate and their three children are set to be shaken up. The Duke of Cambridge has often been spotted enjoying time away with Duchess Catherine and their adorable brood of Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte. The Royal couple, both 36, made their first travel memories with eldest George when he was a toddler, when they flew to Australia. George, now aged five, is third in line to the British throne, currently held by Queen Elizabeth II, and this indicates a switch up in holiday structure is in store.
George is third in the line of succession behind his grandfather, Prince Charles, and his father.
This means forthcoming trips will see him travel separately from Prince William on safety grounds.
Initially, his parents need approval from the Queen to plan a getaway.
Regulation stipulates that as both males are heirs to the throne, they cannot officially travel together.
This is because of the potential for an accident, so the pair will have to travel separately once George is aged 12, marking a major change.
The rules do offer some flexibility, such as when the young family jetted away to Australia.
Prince William’s mother, the late Princess Diana, also took William away with his father, Prince Charles, the current first in line to the monarchy.
Meanwhile, their holidays as a family of five are also required to comply with the royal budget.
The pair have to check back their holiday spending plans with the Queen, too, because she has an established travel budget.
In order to not exceed the cash flow she keeps an eye on all vacation splurges.
During festive breaks, more holiday clearance is needed.
The Cambridge’s have to get the nod from the Queen to spend some of their Christmas with Kate’s family, the Middletons.
The UK monarch has previously granted their request.
The family also make sure they spread Christmas cheer around the Queen’s estate at Sandringham, too.
It remains to be seen what the cute family’s next overseas adventure as a five will be.
