Every AFL coach will soon go down a slide into a pool of ice as they join the fight against Motor Neuron Disease before today’s Collingwood v Melbourne match.
Meanwhile Collingwood is confident high flyer Jeremy Howe will play against his former club Melbourne.
Howe was on Saturday named in the team after spending only a week on the sidelines with bone bruising in a knee.
Having survived training on Thursday, he will be pitted against one of Melbourne’s white-hot forwards, Tom McDonald or Jesse Hogan.
In last year’s Queen’s Birthday match, Howe’s soaring speccy over McDonald looked like Mark of the Year, but Bomber Joe Daniher’s grab was chosen by a fan poll instead.
Captain Scott Pendlebury said last week Collingwood had to name its side so early, it could be subject to change.
But the Pies held out only one of their emergencies, medium-sized defender Flynn Appleby, from Saturday’s VFL game, which suggests Howe will take his spot in the side.
