A FEMALE journalist has exposed the “disgusting” sexist treatment she and her colleagues faced at Sunday’s boxing showdown in Brisbane.
Tegan George took to Twitter to share a video of a male spectator giving the finger and directing foul language towards the Channel Ten reporter during the fight at a packed out Suncorp Stadium.
“B****, f*** off away from me, will ya,” the man can be heard to say.
When the Ms George asked the man if he usually spoke to women in such a way, he replied: “No, only c**** like you.”
The political reporter said she had “never been so badly abused”.
“Never have I or my sports loving girl friends been so badly abused & sexually harassed. Went on for hours,” she wrote on Twitter.
Ms George claimed she and her friends had been subjected to “hours of abuse” during the match.
Fellow journalist Clare Barnes said she had “never experienced so disgusting”.
“It was so confronting to see first hand that this still happens today,” she tweeted.
After sharing the footage, the reporters also had to content with disgruntled social media users who objected to the man being filmed, but fought back.
Another friend of Ms George said the short clip that was shared was “probably the tamest” of the hours of abuse the women had endured.
The women located two police officers at the stadium, and said they had removed the men from the venue.
