- Kushner is also perceived in Mexico as having lost power in the White House after a dispute over U.S. government security clearance.
- Kushner also received some criticism for not inviting the American ambassador, Roberta S. Jacobson — who has 30 years of experience in the region — to attend his meetings with Mexican officials.
