Manchester United players expect Antoine Griezmann or Gareth Bale transfer deals

Manchester United are set to splash the cash at the end of the season with the Red Devils likely to miss out on the Premier League title to fierce rivals Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho’s men spent big over the summer to lure the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof to Old Trafford.

But with City bulldozing their way to the title, United may part with more cash in order to land the trophy they crave.

And the Manchester Evening News say members of the squad expect a big-name player to arrive at the end of the season.

It is said the squad feel Manchester United will spend heavily to relieve some of the pressure on Lukaku.

The Belgium international has hit 15 goals for the season already but, as his performances against the big guns such as Chelsea, City and Liverpool have shown, more is required.

United still want Real Madrid’s Bale despite missing out on the Wales international back in the summer.

Yet, while the 28-year-old is heavily admired in Manchester, the MEN say players think United may try to land a centre-forward instead.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s career is winding down with the 35-year-old expected to leave at the end of the season.

And, as a result, players think Griezmann could sign.

The Atletico Madrid hitman is expected to depart in the summer, having rejected a move to the Premier League  just months ago.

And Los Rojiblancos boss Diego Simeone recently admitted he would not stop the 26-year-old from leaving the Wanda Metropolitano.

“Of course Griezmann will be able to leave at some point, the same way (Diego) Costa and Arda Turan were allowed to leave,” Simeone told l’Equipe.

“I love my players a lot and I love to see them grow. I am not ungrateful.

“If a player comes to me and says: ‘Coach, I have a once in a lifetime chance to play for a certain team, I want to leave’.

“If he did all he could for me as Griezmann does, I’ll say it’s no problem. I know that he needs to grow.”
