Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho eyes ‘next Gareth Bale’ as Luke Shaw replacement

Jose Mourinho launched another scathing attack on Luke Shaw after Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Brighton in their FA Cup quarter-final at the weekend.

And it has led to strong speculation that Shaw’s time at Old Trafford will come to an end in the summer.

Ashley Young has occupied the left-back position for much of the season and has impressed in his unfamiliar role.

However, Mourinho is expected to be targeting a recognised full-back in the summer.

And The Sun claim United have set their sights on a big-money move for Fulham sensation Sessegnon.

The 17-year-old has been a revelation for the Cottagers ever since breaking into the first team last season.

His attacking ability has caught the eye of United’s scouts, who have been sent to watch him in action for the past three games.

Despite operating in a left-back position, Sessegnon is among the Championship’s top scorers with 14 goals as well as providing five assists.

And United are excited about the prospect of signing one of England’s brightest talents.

“The club have been keeping tabs on him and the reports back are fantastic,” a source told The Sun.

“He is even being compared to Gareth Bale at the same stage of his career. He has all the attributes.

“He is quick and has an eye for goal. Jose has been impressed with him and he will be a star.”
