That is the verdict of beIN Sports pundit Ruud Gullit, who hailed the Reds’ decision to sign the Brazilian following his heroics against Napoli.
Jurgen Klopp made signing a new stopper a top priority in the wake of Loris Karius’ horror show in last season’s Champions League final.
And he convinced Anfield chiefs to part with a then world-record £65m fee to prise Alisson away from Roma, who he had raided for Mohamed Salah a year earlier.
Liverpool have reaped the rewards of that hefty investment, no more than in Tuesday night’s 1-0 win over Napoli.
Liverpool required a victory to advance into the Champions League round of 16 and had a late Alisson save to thank for getting the all-important three points.
Gullit raved over Alisson post-match, saying the 26-year-old had helped justify the decision to spend a mammoth amount on him.
“Thank you, goalkeeper,” Gullit said on beIN Sports’ Champions League coverage.
“And this is why you buy a good goalkeeper.
“He only needs to save you four games in a year, four or five games in a year [and] you’re happy with that.”
Gullit was joined in the studio by former Chelsea centre-back Marcel Desailly who highlighted the significance of Alisson’s save in such a critical game.
“This [game] is the qualification for the knockout round,” Desailly said.
Gullit responded: “That’s why, you want him for that.”
Speaking to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher post-match, Jurgen Klopp joked that Alisson was a bargain.
“If I knew Alisson was this good, I would have paid double,” Klopp said.
Liverpool are now waiting to discover their Champions League round of 16 opponents following the win over Napoli.
Next up for Alisson and co. is Sunday’s Premier League showdown with north-west rivals Manchester United.
