Liverpool news: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set for first Reds start against Leicester

The midfielder joined the Reds from Arsenal for £35m but has so far been restricted to appearances from the bench.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp says the 24-year-old England international is now adapting to Liverpool’s style of play as he prepares to face the Foxes.

“We work really hard with Alex and sit together with analysts and show him and how we want to play him in this position and that position,” Klopp said.

“It’s no rushing. It’s really good that he is here. If a new player comes he is in for the season.

“We are now in this three games a week rhythm and the international break he is with the national team. It takes time. It’s not easy.

“Alex came on a in a difficult situation at the weekend. It was pressure and he tried to do something without too many opportunities.”

Klopp will give many of his top stars a break against the Foxes and ring the changes.

The German will give run outs to goalkeeper Danny Ward, midfielder Marko Grujic and striker Dominic Solanke at the King Power stadium.

Klopp plans to use Wales international Ward as his goalkeeper in the competition, although jokingly made reference to being regularly questioned about his controversial policy to rotate Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

“I would love to (select Ward) but I am not sure the world is ready for such a crazy decision,” Klopp said.

“Three goalkeepers when nobody is injured. We can’t do it! Of course Danny Ward will play if nothing happens overnight. I get asked after the game who is now no.1! A nice question.”
