Jennifer Abel ties Canadian diving record with mixed synchro bronze

Canada’s Jennifer Abel tied Alexandre Despatie’s Canadian record with her eighth career medal at the world championships, earning bronze with François Imbeau-Dulac in the 3-metre event in Budapest, Hungary, on Saturday.

China’s Wang Han and Li Zheng won gold with a total of 323.70 points, while Great Britain’s Grace Reid and Thomas Daley tallied 308.04 to take silver. The Canadian duo came in at 297.72 for third place.

This is Abel’s third medal of the FINA world aquatics championships, as she also won bronze in the 3m springboard and silver in the women’s 3m synchro with teammate Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu.

The 25-year-old is also the most decorated female diver in Canadian history at the aquatics worlds.
