Manchester United have signed Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic this summer.
However, Jose Mourinho still wants to add a winger to his ranks as he aims to win the club a first Premier League title since 2013.
In recent weeks, talk has been rife that Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale could make a sensational return to England.
But, with Real, Mourinho and Bale himself rubbishing those claims, it appears Mourinho is looking elsewhere.
Before the Bale talk resurfaced, Inter Milan star Perisic was widely expected to move to Old Trafford.
And, despite negotiations previously coming to a halt, The Mirror say an agreement between both United and Inter is now close.
Red Devils chief executive Ed Woodward has supposedly met with the winger’s agent, Fali Ramadani, to try and resurrect the deal.
Now, following successful talks, United are now set to finally meet Inter’s £48million asking price.
The Mirror add United had failed with two bids earlier in the summer.
However, Chelsea legend Hernan Crespo can see the Croatia international joining Chelsea instead.
“It’s possible he joins Chelsea – but he plays on the left and on the left you have Eden Hazard, Perisic and Marcos Alonso.
“Maybe he could come in through the middle or to the right.
“Perisic is a good player but I don’t know if Inter wants to sell. I think ‘no’ but it depends on money. It’s always the same. It depends on money.
“If you put a lot of money down, even Inter will sell him, but they don’t want to sell him.”
