Horn to defend title against Corcoran

JEFF HORN will defend his World Boxing Organisation welterweight title against Englishman Gary Corcoran at the Brisbane Convention Centre on December 13.

Horn, who beat Manny Pacquiao in a unanimous points decision in July, has been sparring with former world titleholder Michael Katsidis.

Horn, who did three furious rounds with the former lightweight king in the gym last week, is preparing to face a swarming, relentless assault from Corcoran.

JEFF HORN’S SUCCESS: What it reall means to be a man

Corcoran is planning to train in Melbourne for a week before tackling the Brisbane heat.

“The best thing about being an underdog, is when people say you can’t win,” said Corcoran, who, like Horn, has 17 wins in 18 fights.

“I had been saying for weeks before I got offered the fight that Horn is so beatable.”

The undercard will feature world-class Australians Alex Leapai, Rohan Murdock, Shannon O’Connell, Paul Fleming and Nathaniel May.

If Horn beats Corcoran he could face the undefeated American Terence Crawford (32 wins in 32 fights) in Las Vegas in April.
