He showed that on his debut and again in the Derrinstown British EBF Maiden Stakes at Newmarket.
Thrave holds a Derby entry and is regarded by his trainer as his best two-year-old, but his prospects of getting a mile-and-a-half next year look slim and a Guineas trial over a mile looks much more likely for this promising colt.
Henry Candy said: “You give all of your yearlings a Derby entry, it’s basically a throwaway £800, but this fellow won’t get any further than ten furlongs, I wouldn’t have thought.
“He’s got a brilliant attitude, he’s got a fantastic head on him and he doesn’t have a care in the world so he’s got the perfect temperament for racing.
“He ran a very nice race on debut and he’s probably improved two-three lengths from that, all of mine tend to improve with racing, but we’ll leave him alone now and save him for next season. He’s the best of my two-year-olds this year.”
