Holidaymakers travelling to France or who are planning to pass through France, are being warned that their plans may be disrupted due to ongoing travel strike action.
The strikes are set to disrupt both air travel and rail links heading, to, from or through the France.
As of today, Easter Monday, rail workers begin a three-month walkout causing widespread havoc for passengers.
The strikes, seen as a push back against Emmanuel Macron’s latest policies, will see two days of protest followed by three days or normal working services.
In response to the walkout, the major train routes between Paris and Milan are being replaced by buses, a journey that will now take 12 hours.
In a Sunday update, the rail service SNCF warned travel will be “very disrupted” on Tuesday as only one in eight high-speed TGV trains will be in operation.
Only one in five regional trains will be in running and suburban commuters should expect severe delays and multiple cancellations.
Guillaume Pepy, SNCF chief revealed the Journal du Dimanche newspaper: “Three days after normal services resume, another strike sequence will start. It’ll completely disorganise our work.”
An estimated 4.5 million people use this service daily and have been told to brace for problems.
SNCF went on to add 48 per cent of staff are expected to strike on Tuesday and Wednesday over pay.
This figure includes 77 per cent of SNCF train drivers meaning a huge capacity of running services will be lost.
The Eurostar will also suffer from the walkout as the service’s french drivers are employed by SNCF.
As a result of the strike, 29 Eurostar services have been cancelled from London to Paris and Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This equates to around 25,000 seats and passengers affected.
The firm released a statement to say: “Our services from the continent to UK and vice versa are fully booked today. Please come to our stations only if you have a confirmed seat.”
Passengers whose trains are running, are being warned to arrive at the station at least an hour before departure “for a smoother departure experience.”
On Good Friday, Air France cancelled almost a quarter of its scheduled flights after staff walked out for the third time in a month.
The unions representing Air France announced on Sunday that another two-day strike is planned for the 10 and 11 April.
These are in addition to planned strikes on Tuesday and Saturday.
Air France revealed to AFP late on Sunday it “deplored the new strike which comes even as management is urging unions to come to new meetings on the negotiations”.
The airline is urging passengers who have booked to fly on Tuesday the chance to change their flight for another day, although disruption is likely to carry on into Wednesday.
