Former Roosters enforcer steps up to big time

UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa has been catapulted into the biggest fight of his undefeated career and is set to face Belarusian Andre Arlovski at UFC 225 in Chicago.

GAMES SHOCK: Whittaker pulls plug over UFC concerns

A UFC official confirmed on Saturday morning that Tuivasa, undefeated in seven fights, will appear on the undercard of Robert Whittaker’s first middleweight title defence on June 10 (Australian time).

Arlovski is ranked No.9 in the heavyweight division.

The bout is a huge step up for the 25-year-old Sydney slugger and former Roosters prop, who only made his UFC debut last November.

Apart from having won all his fights via first round KO, Tuivasa is also quickly earning himself a cult status in the UFC.

After demolishing Cyril Asker at UFC 221 in Perth, the Aussie then walked from the Octagon and downed a ‘shoey’ offered up by someone in the crowd.

As revealed by News Corp Australia on Friday, Whittaker has been forced to quit the Australian Commonwealth Games team in order to make his first title defence against Cuban monster Yoel Romero.
