Mayweather, 41, began teasing a move to the MMA world in late January in a series of Instagram posts.
The Michigan native’s revelation immediately led to talk of a rematch with Conor McGregor, who he beat in a boxing match last August.
The legendary boxer was recently offered the chance to learn the tools of the MMA trade by Woodley, much to the shock of many.
And according to ‘The Chosen One’, Mayweather’s MMA journey will begin in around seven days time.
“I think we’re gonna start most of it next week,” Woodley told TMZ.
“I think we’re gonna start some of the strategy talks next week and we might get some sessions in as well.”
The prospect of Mayweather taking part in an MMA fight has been laughed off by many, who believe the Olympian would be easily dismantled by an average fighter.
Woodley disagrees with that notion and believes ‘Money’ can cause an upset or two, so long as he stays out of kicking range.
He added: “He does not have to go out there and start learning how to kick like Bruce Lee.
“He does not have to go out there and become a black belt over night.
“He just has to be able to stop it, and to get within boxing range and I think anybody in the UFC, he’s going to be able to handle his own with.”
Mayweather touched on the prospect of training with Woodley earlier this month and claimed he’d only need six to eight months of training before setting foot inside the cage.
“It’ll probably need a little bit longer (than three months),” he told TMZ. “Even if it takes six to eight months – whatever it takes.
“We want to make sure that everything is done correctly, and everything is done the right way.
“I can wrestle. My wrestling game is not that bad,” he said. “On a scale from one to 10, I would say it’s probably a seven.
“We can take it up to a nine, if possible. Of course my hand game, on a scale of one to 10, it’s 100.
“The kicking game, on a scale from one to 10, it’s probably a four. We have to tweak a few things to take things to the next level.”
