England U21 2 – Slovakia U21 1: Young Lions come from behind in Euro U21 Championship

Goals from Alfie Mawson and Nathan Redmond int he second half turned the tables for England on a hot afternoon in Kielce, Poland.

Tensions boiled over towards the end when Branislav Ninaj appeared to elbow England striker Tammy Abraham in the chin.

Slovakia had taken the lead through Martin Chrien’s near-post header on 22 minutes.

Jordan Pickford was then forced to deny Jaroslav Mihalik before the break.

But England stepped up a gear in the second half and Mawson bundled in the equaliser after Redmond had gone close.

Redmond then got his goal on the hour mark when cutting inside and firing a deflected effort into the net.
