Chelsea’s star striker is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after his shock revelation last week.
Antonio Conte text the 28-year-old to reveal he was no longer in his plans going forward.
Costa went public with the message from his manager, and that has left his future very much up in the air.
A return to Atletico Madrid has long been suggested, and Costa is keen to go back.
However, their transfer ban until January means other options must be considered.
Express Sport understands AC Milan will pull out of a move due to the Chelsea man’s wage demands.
And now Costa has closed the door on a potential mega-money switch to China.
Conte and Costa fell out back in January over interest from the Chinese Super League.
But the Spain international wants to ensure he has the chance to lead the line at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Last night, he scored in a 2-1 qualifier win away to Macedonia, and then ended chances of a transfer to China after the match.
“I rule out China, I have to think about my future,” Diego Costa said.
“I have to think about the World Cup.
“If I fight and I do things well I’ll have every chance of going to the World Cup. I cannot go to China.”
Costa’s openness over his position at Chelsea is likely to lose the club millions with his value subsequently dropping.
In the meantime, Conte is looking for a replacement and continuing with his pursuit of Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku.
