MIAMI Dolphins offensive line coach Chris Foerster has resigned, less than 12 hours after a video of him snorting a white powder surfaced online.
“I am resigning from my position with the Miami Dolphins and accept full responsibility for my actions. I want to apologise to the organisation and my sole focus is on getting the help that I need with the support of my family and medical professionals,” the NFL coach said in a statement on Monday, The New York Post reports.
The video, which was originally posted on Facebook by Las Vegas-based stripper Kijuana Nige, features Foerster ingesting three lines of white powder with a rolled-up $ US20 note.
“What do you think, I’m crazy?” Foerster asks after snorting the second line.
He then says: “It’ll be a while before we can do this again. Because I know you have to keep that baby. But I think about you when I do it. I think about how much I miss you. How high we got together. How much fun it was.”
Then a smiling Foerster announces: “Last little bit, before I go to my meeting.”
The Dolphins organisation released an additional statement addressing Foerster’s resignation.
“We were made aware of the video late last night and have no tolerance for this behaviour,” the team said.
“After speaking with Chris this morning, he accepted full responsibility and we accepted his resignation effective immediately. Although Chris is no longer with the organisation, we will work with him to get the help he needs during this time.”
Foerster had served as the Dolphins offensive line coach since last season, following a one-year stint with the 49ers.
The Dolphins improved to 2-2 Sunday following their 16-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
