Chelsea transfer EXCLUSIVE: Lewandowski and Vardy wanted to solve striker problem

That is the view of Chelsea legend Dennis Wise, who expects the Blues to move for a striker in the window.

Chelsea have laboured in front of goal this season, with Eden Hazard their main man up top.

That is despite Blues boss Maurizio Sarri having Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud in his squad.

Both Morata and Giroud are struggling for goals and Sarri is expected to address that issue.

And Wise believes the answer to their problems lie in Lewandowski or Vardy.

will want a striker,” Wise exclusively told Express Sport.

“Someone who can score goals and at the moment we haven’t got someone who will get 25 goals a season.

“Unfortunately not loads of them about, so it’s about getting the right one.

“There are a couple of goalscorers they should be willing to pay for, like Lewandowski or Jamie Vardy.”

Lewandowski has been linked with a move to the Premier League before – namely Manchester United.

But no English side has so far been successful in prising the Poland international out of Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old boasts a staggering 22 goals for club and country this season and was once a target of Real Madrid.

Bayern are third in the Bundesliga and would be loathe to sell their star man Lewandowski at this stage in the season – especially considering his goalscoring prowess right now.

As for Vardy, the 31-year-old has scored just five times in 15 appearances for Leicester this season.

The Foxes look good to avoid the drop this term but Vardy is well under contract at the King Power Stadium.

Vardy almost left Leicester for Arsenal after their 2016 Premier League title triumph – and 12 months later was subject to interest from Chelsea.

But again, the striker stayed put.

Whether Leicester would be tempted by a big offer from Chelsea it is not clear.

But the Blues are expected to hand Sarri cash in the window to bolster their title charge.

As for Morata, he could be put on the market and sold at the right price, with the Spaniard having never managed to hit top form at Stamford Bridge.

He cost Chelsea £60m in 2017 and Juventus would be an ideal destination for the striker – although the Italian giants are currently fully-stocked up front.
