Chelsea’s star centre-half has not yet fully decided what he wishes to do after retirement.
The Brazil international turns 30 next month but still has plenty of playing days left.
Since his return to Stamford Bridge last summer for £30million, Luiz has been a revelation under Antonio Conte in the heart of Chelsea’s defence.
The Italian’s switch to a 3-4-3 set-up has allowed Luiz to flourish, and Conte could inspire him to try his hand at coaching in years to come.
However, they may not come at Chelsea, as the former Benfica star still has ties to Portugal.
“I don’t know yet but I want to continue in football, maybe as a coach,” Luiz told Chelsea’s official website.
“I might live in Europe, it just depends, but I love Lisbon.
“It’s an amazing city and it has a beach there, it’s the most similar city to Brazil.”
Luiz joined Benfica from Brazilian side Vitoria in 2007, but he has largely spent his prime playing days in either England or France at Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
A long-term future looks set in west London though following a hugely successful first campaign back with the Blues.
A Premier League title is on the cards, with FA Cup glory being eyed too.
Luiz could start in Monday’s quarter-final tie against Manchester United (7.45pm), although Conte will assess his fitness surrounding an ongoing knee issue.
