FIRST stop on the royal tour, Brisbane.
Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will begin their engagements for their trip to Australia in the maroon city on April 4, visiting the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital together.
Duchess Camila is also pencilled in to host a tea to celebrate the Women of the Commonwealth as part of the WOW Festival, while Prince Charles attends a reception at Government House to celebrate his relationship with Australia over 70 years.
The pair will then represent the Queen at the opening of the XXI 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, reading out Her Majesty’s customary message to call for friendly competition between athletes.

Other engagements on their packed scheduled on the Glitter Strip include a tour of the Athletes Village and a visit to Commonwealth House. Charles is also slated to present medals during Swimming Finals.
Prince Charles will then visit north Queensland and the Northern Territory, as well as Vanuatu, while Camilla heads back to the UK. His Royal Highness will wrap up the tour on April 10.
The recent news of Camilla’s involvement in the Australian tour comes after there was uncertainty as to whether Camilla would join her husband after she was left off the initial press release last year. It was reported in British media at the time that the Duchess has a fear of flying.
Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, is also due to give birth to her third child with Prince William that month, meaning Charles and Camilla could potentially miss the special moment.
It is Charles’ 16th visit down under and Camilla’s third.
The Prince is taking on a higher profile following the retirement of his father, 96-year-old Prince Philip, and the slight easing back of duties by his mother, the 91-year-old Queen Elizabeth.
Buckingham Palace released a statement in July confirming Prince Charles would represent his mother at the opening of the Games.
