Fabregas was part of the Arsenal team which was regularly thwarted by Terry’s Chelsea between 2005 and 2011.
But Fabregas left the Gunners to join Barcelona before returning to the Premier League in 2014 to play alongside Terry at Stamford Bridge and together they won the league twice and the League Cup in three years.
At the end of last season Terry was released by Chelsea after 717 appearances in 19 seasons for the club and joined Championship side Aston Villa.
And speaking in a special Sky Sports show reflecting on Chelsea’s title winning campaign, Fabregas paid tribute to Terry and revealed how he felt about the 36-year-old in the past.
He told Sky Sports: “He is the type of player that I had many battles with.
“I disliked him very much at some point playing for Arsenal, we had a lot of confrontations, but one thing I always had for him was respect.”
In the documentary, Blues boss Antonio Conte thanked Terry for his service.
He said: “I think it was maybe the most difficult season for him, for a lot of reasons.
“He showed to be before a great man and then a great player. He showed he will always be a great captain for this team and I have to tell him a big, big, big thanks.”
