Burrito bust: Jailer ‘tried to smuggle drug-filled snack into prison’

A prison officer is today staring at the other side of the jailhouse bars after being arrested on suspicion of using a burrito to smuggle drugs into work.

Tulsa County correctional officer Kevin Mayo, 20, has been charged after the savoury snack stuffed with methamphetamine and marijuana was found in his backpack at Tulsa County Jail, reports Oklahoma’s News on 6.

According to Tulsa County Jail records, the Oklahoma man was arrested on June 9 and is currently being held on a $ 40,000 bond. He is due in court on June 16 where he faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to commit a felony and carrying contraband into a prison.

Mayo’s arrest comes less than two weeks after another Tulsa County Jail staff member was arrested on allegations that he touched prisoners inappropriately.

Rickardo Williams, 38, faces sexual battery charges and allegations he grabbed the genitals of some inmates at the county prison.
