Ballon d'Or nominees: Sanchez, Casemiro, Eriksen… 10 huge omissions from shortlist

Arsenal frontman Sanchez scored 30 goals in all competitions last season, but his efforts were not enough to make France Football’s elite shortlist.

The annual award sees players from around Europe recognised for their footballing achievements over the past 12 months, but there are several glaring omissions ahead of this year’s vote.

playmaker Christian Eriksen has also missed out despite bagging 23 assists in a superb campaign.
