Aubameyang moved to the Emirates from Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window as Arsenal looked to compensate for Alexis Sanchez’s departure.
And he’s made a promising start to life in north London, scoring six goals and providing two assists in his first nine appearances in all competitions.
Aubameyang’s arrival at Arsenal cast doubts over Lacazette’s future but the two have since combined to good effect on several occasions.
Aubameyang has now admitted he had concerns about the Frenchman, who he assisted as Arsenal took the lead in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle.
“My friend Lacazette was at Lyon when I was at St Etienne,” Aubameyang told Arsenal’s official website.
“He’s a player I appreciate and was good for me when I arrived here as he’s a nice person, very positive.
“I wasn’t 100 per cent sure about him when I came here as there were some Lyon players I didn’t get on well with but he wasn’t someone I had problems with when I played against them.
“I’m really happy to get to know someone so positive and he helped me settle into the dressing room.”
Aubameyang and Lacazette will be keen to impress when Arsenal return to Premier League action against West Ham on Sunday.
Aubameyang is cup-tied for the Gunners’ pair of Champions League showdowns against Atletico Madrid though.
And that means Arsene Wenger will likely be depending on Lacazette to offer the goal threat that he’s shown in glimpses this season.
