Airline secrets EXPOSED: You risk boarding the wrong plane if flying to THESE destinations

Airline secrets are common knowledge among cabin crew, but often passengers remain oblivious.

There’s one thing many travellers wonder about: is it possible to get on the wrong plane?

Yes, it is, revealed a flight attendant on knowledge sharing platform Quora – and she said there’s a particular situation which makes it more likely.

You could you get on the wrong plane to a destination you never intended to go to, if it shares a name with somewhere else.

This is because if your chosen travel destination has the same name as somewhere else, it makes it easier for airline staff to get confused.

The flight attendant on Quora explained a bit more about how this happens.

“While doing the service on a flight from JFK New York to Portland, Oregon a customer asked me ‘We’re almost there, right?’”.

“I told her that we had about three and a half more hours to go.  She responded: “But it never takes more than an hour.’”

“As it turned out, this woman thought she was on a flight from New York to Portland, Maine.

She told me that when the gate agent scanned her ticket, it didn’t beep, and the agent told her to board anyway.”

It is also possible for the passenger themselves to get confused between their destination and another place with the same name.

“Another time during a flight from New York to San Jose, California, a man came to the galley and  asked me if the flight was going to California.”

“When I confirmed that it was, he told me that he thought he had a ticket for San Jose, Costa Rica.”

A flight attendant recently revealed the best time to ask for a free upgrade on a plane.

She said many had been disappointed while asking at a check in desk for an upgrade.

But when do you think she recommended passengers to ask instead?
