A plane that acts like a boat? Or a boat that looks like a plane?

The Airfish 8 is an aerodynamic marine craft that glides over water. It utilizes an aerodynamic phenomenon called “wing in ground effect” that gives it an extra lift to maintain it’s gliding style. Airfish 8 can reach speeds of up to 121 mph and has a range of 345 miles.

Transcript: Is it a boat? Is it a plane? Well, we’re not exactly sure. Airfish 8 by Wigetworks is a mix of aerodynamic technology and marine craft. Wigetworks designed the Airfish 8 to be an efficient ship for tourism, transport, logistics, and maritime patrol. The structure of the Airfish 8 utilizes an aerodynamic phenomenon called “wing in ground effect.” This effect happens when a craft is close enough to a surface. Creating a small amount of extra lift from the air pressure built up beneath its wings. Weighing in at 2,205 lbs Airfish 8 can carry up to 8 passengers and 2 crew members. The Airfish 8 can reach speeds of 121 mph and a range of 345 miles with an operating height of up to 23 feet. It’s powered by a 500 horsepower V8 engine. Would you ride this flying boat mashup?
