Arsenal vs Tottenham: Sanchez and Ozil would have been sold by Spurs – Bentley

Arsenal host Tottenham in tomorrow’s headline fixture with both sides aiming to boost their chances of securing Champions League football by the end of the campaign.

Sanchez and Ozil are likely to take to the field despite their contracts at the Emirates expiring at the end of the campaign.

Talk of moves away for both players has been rife, with Manchester City keen on Sanchez and Manchester United ready to pounce for Ozil.

And Bentley, who endured a rough ride at Tottenham between 2008 and 2013, thinks the Arsenal duo would have been sold if they were at Tottenham.

“Would Sanchez and Ozil have been handled differently at Tottenham? Yeah they’ve had sold them,” he told 888 Sport

“The cashing in would have taken place already.

“For one thing at Tottenham they wouldn’t have had that wage on their books.

“It’s a negative to keep these players because any player who doesn’t have their mind set right will not be effective.”

Meanwhile, Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas thinks Ozil and Sanchez should both be dropped for tomorrow’s north London derby.

“Are they two of our best players? Of course they are, but they don’t do enough in these big games.

“Welbeck isn’t as talented but what you’ve got to do against a back three is move them about to create chances, while Lacazette is our best finisher and sulky Sanchez doesn’t like playing out wide.

“I’d play Alex Iwobi as well. People will question me for leaving those two out but it worked against Chelsea.

“I’d have Aaron Ramsey in central midfield with Granit Xhaka, but my concern is that Wenger sticks with his principle of playing two holding midfielders, even though he doesn’t have the right players to play in those positions.”
