Celtics beat champs to extend stunning streak

THE Boston Celtics used a signature balanced effort to defeat the defending champion Golden State Warriors, extending their NBA-best winning streak to 14 games.

Jaylen Brown led the way for the Celtics with 22 points, with every Boston starter finishing in double figures as they grinded to a 92-88 comeback victory.

The Celtics win puts a halt to the Warriors win streak, which sat at seven before the stunning loss in TD Garden.

Al Horford finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, for the Celtics, while Kyrie Irving had 16 points of his own.

It was a tough night for the Warriors, who were confronted with an imposing Celtics defence, particularly in the second half.

Kevin Durant posted a game-high 24 points in the road loss, while Klay Thompson finished with 13 points.

Thompson and Stephen Curry were a combined 5-of-20 from behind the three-point line.

Aron Baynes came off the bench for the Celtics, finishing with four points and five rebounds in 12 minutes of action.

The Celtics improved to 14-2 on the season, while the Warriors now sit at 11-4.
