Podcast: Cup tri a holiday-maker

OUR madcap Sneaky Podcast crew are planning ship cruises and quaint little vacations by the seaside such is the belief they’ve lassoed this year’s Melbourne Cup trifecta at their first throw.

Herald Sun’s Glen McFarlane expects Humidor and last year’s winner Almandin to be major contributors in financing his beach getaway, while Sunday Herald Sun sports editor Danny Russell has more grandiose plans and wants a good return from his trio to pay for his bar tab on an upcoming New Zealand cruise.

They are right about one thing, the Cup trifecta always returns a strong dividend and is one of the rare occasions where boxing a few runners in a tri can be deemed a wiser investment than just backing one runner.

Along with Herald’s Sun Gilbert Gardiner, who is adamant jockey Craig Williams can turn around an indifferent spring by piloting home Wall Of Fire, Macca and Danny run the rule over every Cup runner.

Tune in as the boys come up with a few tidy trifecta combinations and, as always, their sneaky chances.
