THE Cronulla Sharks have signed Kangaroos winger Valentine Holmes to a new million dollar contract, ending speculation of a move to the NFL or a rival club.
Holmes has agreed to a two-year extension with an option for a third year in 2020.
The former Townsville junior signed the contract this afternoon after months of negotiations and speculation about his future.
The brilliant winger is expected to play fullback this year as Ben Barba’s replacement.
He will however miss the world club championship against Wigan after tearing a hamstring in a trial match in Brisbane last weekend.
The Sharks confirmed the signing on Monday afternoon.
“It’s very exciting and good I was able to get it done before the start of the season,” Holmes said.
“We’re trying to keep the same team that won the premiership together, it’s a great bunch of guys, there are some good young blokes coming through and I’m really happy with the way we are going.
“As for playing fullback, I can’t wait to play there.”
