Man Utd News: Juan Mata rejects stunning China transfer with new contract in the works

Mata was expected to leave Manchester United when Jose Mourinho succeeded Louis van Gaal as manager in the summer of 2016.

However, fast forward just under 18 months, and the Spain international has emerged as one of the Red Devils’ most important players.

Mata is now in his fourth full season at Old Trafford, and has blossomed as United have started the season in fine fettle.

And the Daily Mirror say the Spain international is set to have his contact renewed as a reward for his impressive displays for Manchester United.

It is said Mourinho’s men will trigger a clause in his contract that allows his current deal to be extended.

He is out of contract at the end of the season but there appears to be no chance of his departure.

However, The Mirror add clubs from China have chanced their arm.

Teams from the Far East have supposedly approached his representatives about a surprising transfer deal.

But Mata is happy to snub any financial boost in order to prolong his United career.

The United playmaker is expected to feature when the Red Devils face Liverpool on Saturday (12.30pm).

And, speaking ahead of the Anfield showdown, he reiterated the importance of the fixture.

“Obviously, we also have to talk about our next Premier League game, in Anfield,” he wrote on his personal blog.

“This is one of the big games of the season without a doubt.

“There’s no need to say what it means for us and for our fans, and I hope that we can play a great game and take the three points to Manchester.

“We will try to extend our good run of results since the season started.”

“I also hope that none of my team-mates has physical problems in the second game with the national teams as it was the case with (Marouane) Fellaini, to whom I wish a speedy recovery.”
