Liverpool transfer news: Virgil van Dijk in Mercedes on the way to Melwood – fan claims

After sealing a deal for Naby Keita yesterday, attention has turned to other players and Van Dijk remains a target for Liverpool.

Southampton have been adamant the Dutch defender, who has been exiled from the squad due to his wish to leave, will not depart for any price this summer.

But Liverpool fans on Twitter strongly think the circumstances have changed.

A private jet is said to have arrived at John Lennon airport this afternoon and the people on the flight were picked up in Mercedes club van.

The jet which landed was claimed to be a Cessna 525B CitationJet CJ3, which is similar to the plane Van Dijk posted a picture from in June.

But the theory does not end there with Liverpool fans determining that the van is the same one which picked up Jurgen Klopp, Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson from the airport when they arrived to complete Liverpool deals.

And it appears they are right with the van spotted today having the same registration number as Salah’s supposedly on the way to Stanley Park.

One fan joked: “LFC Twitter would have found Bin Laden in 15 minutes if he had been linked with Liverpool.”

Another said: “What a time to be alive. Tracking planes, CSI’ing hell out a blurry pic of a people carrier. #VanDijk #LFC.”

And supporter Aaman Khan tweeted: “Only the best fans in the world compare club cars and plane interiors ffs.”
