The Manchester United goalkeeper has been strongly linked with a move to the Spanish capital in recent months with Zinedine Zidane eager to sign a new No1.
But talks between the two clubs have stalled with United thought to be reluctant to sell and Madrid yet to meet their asking price.
But it seems De Gea is willing to seal a move to his homeland with reports suggesting Mendes has been in contact with Madrid chief Jose Angel Sanchez in recent days at the 26-year-old’s request.
Spanish journalist Pipi Estrada made the claims on the El Chiringuito TV show.
“Jorge Mendes has asked Jose Angel Sanchez for De Gea and Sanchez has asked him to be patient because the decision has not yet been made,” he said.
“This year there is a lot of happiness because it has won the double, which had not been won for a long time, but next year we have to win again and if there is not a win there will be a problem.”
Another reason for De Gea’s hold up in his prospective move to the Bernabeu is thought to be because of Keylor Navas’ future.
The Costa Rica international is considering his future in the capital with Paris Saint-Germain showing interest.
Spanish publication Don Balon claim Madrid president Florentino Perez is waiting for PSG to make a firm offer before breaking the bank to finally land De Gea.
The Spain international is under contract with United until 2019.
