Luis Enrique: How it feels to sign off as Barcelona boss with Copa del Rey win

Despite frustration in La Liga and the Champions League this season, Barca ended the campaign with a Copa del Rey triumph.

A 3-1 victory over Alaves last night, courtesy of goals from , Neymar and Paco Alcocer meant the Catalan giants won the competition for the 29th time.

Enrique signed off as manager with the ninth trophy under his belt after a three-year stint in charge.

And explaining what the victory meant to him, he said: “I feel happy because I have enjoyed a lot making Barça fans happy by winning trophies and that makes me proud.

“I am the one who has decided to stop because it will be the best for me and the for the players, they need potent and intense stimulus.

“Nine trophies out of 13 is a pretty good record.”

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu was also quick to hail the contributions of Enrique.

He said: “Luis [Enrique] has done a very good job and we are very grateful.

“He has been a successful manager.

“We have to keep this good feeling and celebrate it as we have won a title against a great team and in the farewell match of this stadium.”
