Last July, the Giants sacked Paul Anderson and replaced him with Aussie Rick Stone, but not much has gone right since.
This defeat was another knife in the side of a team struggling for confidence and wobbling alarmingly.
The scoreline did not do justice to the French visitors’ superiority as the Giants scored two late consolation tries.
Stone said: “We self destructed during 20 minutes in the second half and conceded some soft tries again, which was worrying. We basically handed it to them on a platter.”
There was a first-half try for Giants debutant Jake Mamo but little else to cheer for Stone’s men, who were gradually picked apart.
Dragons boss Laurent Frayssinous, whose side won at Leigh last Friday, said: “That’s two big wins away from home in six days and I’m pretty proud of the boys.
“Hopefully people will now stop talking about Catalans as an inconsistent team.”
Huddersfield led in the 13th minute when centre Aaron Murphy scampered over in the left corner for a try which Danny Brough converted.
Catalans fashioned an impressive response which saw full-back Tony Gigot collect a short pass from Luke Walsh and weave his way through a statuesque Huddersfield defence.
Although Mamo – playing for the first time after ankle surgery during the close-season – scored five minutes before the interval, the Dragons responded again.
In the 39th minute, Richie Myler’s fine pass found centre Brayden Wiliame and he touched down to make it 12-10 to Catalans at the break.
Nine minutes after the restart, Myler crossed the line himself after collecting a kick from Walsh.
To compound Huddersfield’s problems, Brough was sinbinned for showing dissent towards referee Chris Campbell after Myler scored.
And the Dragons soon made their numerical advantage pay when Vincent Duport finished off some a flowing move in the left corner.
Walsh then ran 30 metres to score a fifth Catalans try before Jermaine McGillvary and Sam Wood replied late on for Huddersfield.
WIGAN star George Williams has signed a new four-year deal to ward off interest from several NRL clubs and make him their second marquee player after Sam Tomkins.
