Did Alexis Sanchez have a bust-up at Arsenal?
Yes. During a training session last week Alexis Sanchez was on the losing side of a practice match. He was on the wrong end of a heavy tackle from a team-mate and erupted, storming off the pitch.
Arsenal vice-captain Laurent Koscielny then had a furious row with Sanchez in the dressing room after training at the club’s London Colney HQ.
Why did Arsene Wenger drop Alexis Sanchez against Liverpool?
Arsene Wenger surprisngly dropped Sanchez for Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool on Saturday. He has publicly insisted the decision was made to help his team go more “direct” but it is thought Wenger was punishing Sanchez for his bust-up.
Wenger relented at half-time with Arsenal 2-0 down, bringing on the Chilean ace to almost instant rewards, as he set up Danny Welbeck’s goal before the hour mark.
But Sanchez could not stop Arsenal falling to a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool, which dumped them outside the top four.
What did Arsene Wenger say about Alexis Sanchez’s bust-up?
“I am not aware, nothing happened. Nothing at all.
“I explained after the game at Liverpool that I decided to go for a more direct option in the game and that’s what happened. That was the unique reason for my decision.
“For the rest, his attitude, he is a committed player, sometimes with excessive behaviour, but you have seen that many times in history in every squad.
“Yes, completely false, but I understand you have to fill the newspapers and we have to respect that.
“When you don’t win the games, it’s not always down to real stories and we have to accept that.”
What did Robert Pires say about Alexis Sanchez’s bust-up?
“Claims in the press there was a fight are false – I was there.
“There was a bad tackle on Alexis Sanchez, a clash, he left the pitch.
“Fans have to understand, there was a disciplinary sanction. Nothing serious happened.
“I was there yesterday too. there is no problem.”
What did Theo Walcott say about Alexis Sanchez’s bust-up?
“Things get taken out of proportion — we all know this. There are certain things that happen at training grounds.
“I’m sure it happens at every other training ground, most of the time, really.
“You don’t see it often at Arsenal. Things have happened. They need to stay in the dressing room and the players and staff need to sort it out. We are in it together here. We can’t be fighting each other.
“I don’t really want to go into it but the stuff that has gone on did not affect our first half here [at Liverpool].”
