Gallup was selected in the recent NFL Draft from Colorado State but knows he has big shoes to fill.
Bryant was released by the Cowboys last month despite being their all-time leader in touchdown catches.
Bryant is yet to be snapped up by another franchise despite being linked to Baltimore Ravens.
The 29-year-old starred for the Cowboys in 2017, making six touchdowns from 69 receives. He also went a total of 838 yards – his best return since 2014 when he made 1,320 yards and 16 touchdowns.
But Gallup knows he won’t match those stats. Not yet, at least.
“Dez is a great player,” Gallup said.
“It’s hard for a rookie to come in and just replace all of the stuff that he’s done here.
“We’re out here trying to practice to be like him, obviously. But I’m not coming in here just to replace him. That’s not my role yet.”
Bryant has received a lot of support from Dallas despite being cut.
Cowboys legend Troy Aikman is one of the three-time Pro Bowl star’s fans and believes it won’t be long until he finds a new home.
“I’m a little surprised he hasn’t signed with a team yet,” Aikman said. “I think he’ll land somewhere.

“I think he’s highly motivated to show people he’s still got some years left, very productive years and that should help him get prepared for this season and go out and play at a high level.”
