Wilder has been calling out Joshua, who added the WBO strap to his IBF, WBA and IBO titles last month with an unanimous points win over Joshua Parker in Cardiff, and he is desperate to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
A huge clash is expected to take place later this year, although both parties are thought to be poles apart in terms of the purse for the fight.
Reports have suggested that Joshua’s team have tabled three offers and any potential deal would include a rematch clause which would allow Wilder a second bout in the US.
And now according to the Daily Telegraph, Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn have dispatched a contract to Wilder, however it doesn’t confirm where the fight will take place or even whether or not it will even be Joshua’s next fight.
However, the report suggests that Wilder has been offered a flat fee of £8.8million to accept the fight and has been told he has 48 hours to inform Joshua’s camp.
This was confirmed by Wilder’s management team through co-manager Shelly Finkel.
He told the Telegraph: “It was a take-it-or-leave-it offer.
“We will respond appropriately in the next day or so with our counter offer.
“If Joshua is serious, we will take the fight.
“Deontay wants this fight. He doesn’t want anyone else.”
