The South Korean is one of the most promising young players on Tour and he has shot up the ATP world rankings in 2018.
Chung was the surprise package at the Australian Open as he defeated former world No 1 Novak Djokovic to reach the semi-finals.
However, playing so many matches in such a short space of time took it’s toll on the 20-year-old and he was forced to withdraw from the last-four clash with Federer through injury.
A badly blistered foot was to blame for his exit but now he has fully recovered and has a shot at revenge in the Indian Wells quarter-finals.
Chung’s rematch with Federer is expected to get underway at 2am but ahead of the clash the Swiss star has set his opponent one huge challenge.
And that is to stay fit for the full season as missing three months of the years is seriously hampering his progress.
“It’s just a question for Chung to see that he can maintain that level, you know, with the blister, with injuries,” Federer said.
“Over the course of the next 10, 15 years to make sure he stays injury-free and doesn’t get injured three months of the year.”
Federer has to beat Chung to retain his world No 1 ranking.
If the youngster can upset the odds then the honour will return to Rafael Nadal.
