Transfer news LIVE updates: Deadline day latest as Premier League clubs plot late deals
- Arsenal will sell Olivier Giroud to Chelsea today in £18m deal, triggering Michy Batshuayi’s loan move to Dortmund
- Lucas Moura completes medical with Tottenham
- Transfer window shuts at 11pm TODAY
Done Deal: Mesut Ozil signs new contract
12:20: Mesut Ozil has signed a new contract at Arsenal, ending speculation that he will leave the club, reports claim.
BBC reporter David Ornstein claims the German international, whose contract was due to expire in June, has signed a three-and-a-hals year contract that will see him remain at the Emirates Stadium until 2021.
Ozil, 29, becomes the club’s highest earner in history on £350,000 per week before tax.
Ornstein says the deal was completed last weekend and the playmaker made it official by signing at Colney this morning.
The news of Ozil’s contract extension follows a great morning for Arsenal, who officially unveiled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a club-record £56million.
Willock returns
12:10: Not the biggest transfer story of deadline day, but a story nonetheless.
Matt Willock has cut short his loan deal with Utrecht and returned to Manchester United.
The midfielder joined Utrecht on a season long loan deal in August, but has struggled to work his way into the starting XI having made just six league appearances.
Eden Hazard swap deal
11:50: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will reportedly ask for Marco Asensio in exchange for Eden Hazard joining Real Madrid.
Eden Hazard has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid and Los Blancos are expected to break the bank for him in the summer.
The Belgian’s reluctance to sign a new deal being offered by the Blues is leading Abramovich to accept there is little he can do to stop him making the switch to the Bernabeu.
But the Russian billionaire will not let him go on the cheap.
Reports in Spain have suggested Abramovich is keen on the idea of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the Premier League with the Portuguese seemingly unhappy in the capital.
But Spanish publication Don Balon claim Abramovich’s advisers are pushing him to pursue a move for Asensio instead.
With Ronaldo 31 years of age, Chelsea feel a move for 22-year-old Asensio would be a better long-term investment.
Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is undergoing a medical ahead of his loan move to Borussia Dortmund
Michy medical underway
11:45: Michy Batshuayi is currently undergoing his medical at Borussia Dortmund.
The German club were waiting to sign a replacement before allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Arsenal in a deal worth £56million.
That deal has now been completed, with the Gabonese international signing a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
So it’s only a matter of time before Batshuayi is officially a Dortmund player for the remainder of the season.
The move is also likely to accelerate Chelsea’s move for Olivier Giroud, whose agent has arrived in London for talks.
‘Yo Pierre…’
11:40: Arsenal used their new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan to announce the signing of his former Borussia Dortmund team-mate, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Armenia international could be heard saying “Yo Pierre, you wanna come out here?” during his official unveiling last week.
And the Gunners social media team have come up trumps with a video that’s been retweeted over 13,000 times!
Arsenal unveil new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at London Colney
Dortmund statement
11:30: Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has released a brief statement on the club’s official website.
It said: “Apart from the unpleasant events of recent weeks, we like to remember that the story of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at BVB for more than four years was a single success story.
“He has done great things for Borussia Dortmund at this time, scored many important goals and is part of the team that brought the DFB Cup to Dortmund in 2017. We wish Pierre-Emerick all the best for his future at Arsenal. “
DONE DEAL: ARSENAL SIGN AUBAMEYANG
11:13: The Gunners have announced it!
Arsenal have signed striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract for a club-record fee.
Express Sport understands the deal was around £56million, eclipsing the £46.5m paid to French side Lyon for forward Alexandre Lacazette last year.
Aubameyang has scored 98 goals in 144 Bundesliga games for the German side and had a hand in 172 goals in 213 matches in all competitions for his former club.
The 28-year-old is Gabon’s all-time top goalscorer with 23 goals from 56 matches and was named the African Footballer of the Year in 2015.
Dortmund announce Aubameyang deal
11:10: Borussia Dortmund have sensationally announced that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is officially an Arsenal player.
The Bundesliga outfit tweeted a picture of the Gabonese forward, along with a caption: “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moves from BVB to Arsenal.”
Arsenal have yet to confirm the deal themselves, but it looks like Arsenal have got their man!

Klopp will NOT sign Thomas Lemar today
11:00: Liverpool will not sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco today because Jurgen Klopp is not prepared to pay £90m for the midfielder, according to journalist Oliver Bond.
Liverpool have plenty of money to spend following the £142m sale of Philippe Coutinho to La Liga giants Barcelona earlier this month.
And the Brazilian’s departure, as well as Daniel Sturridge’s loan move to West Brom, has left a void in Klopp’s squad.
A Twitter user asked Bond: “Any interest in anyone Ollie?”
And Bond replied: “Interest in lots of players, Lemar the one Klopp wants but won’t pay £90m for him and is happy to wait and try again this summer.”
The news might please Arsenal and Barcelona, who’ve also been linked with the French international.
Ndiaye to Stoke
10:45: Another update, and another player has completed his medical.
This time it’s Galatasaray midfielder Badou Ndiaye, who has passed his tests ahead of a £15million move to Stoke.
There are still a few hurdles to complete with the player needing to agree personal terms and work permit/visa matters.

Lucas Moura deal edges closer
10:20: PSG forward Lucas Moura has completed his medical with Tottenham.
The Brazilian star, who netted 16 goals last season, is expected to sign a three-and-a-half year contract with the option of a further year.
He has played over 150 Ligue 1 games for the French side winning four titles and three Coupe de France trophies.
Benitez ‘confident’ of pulling off deadline day deals
10:10: Rafa Benitez says he is ‘confident’ Newcastle can pull off some late transfer deals.
Newcastle’s only signing this month so far has been the loan acquisition of Chelsea defender Kenedy.
“We have some time and we have an important game tomorrow, I will not talk about the window. I will concentrate on the game and ensure we will not lose focus on that,” he said.
“We still have time I am confident we can do something. I will not spend too much time speaking about that.”
Aubameyang shirts on sale
10:00: Arsenal shirts with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s name on the back are already on sale!
He’s currently being put through his paces and going through routine checks at the club’s training ground.
But it seems some shops have jumped the gun though with shirts bearing Aubameyang’s name already on sale.
N’Dong to Watford
09:55: Sunderland midfielder Didier N’Dong is currently undergoing a medical with Watford.
The Gabonese international, who arrived at the Stadium of Light for a club record transfer fee of £13.6 million in August 2016, will join on a six-month loan deal.

No Daley deal…
09:50: Roma are set to sign Jonathan Silva from Sporting Lisbon, ending their interest in Manchester United’s Daley Blind.
Roma sold defender Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea in a deal worth £17.6million plus £7m in add-ons and the Italian side made Blind one of their top targets to replace Palmieri.
But according to respected Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio, Roma have dropped their attempts to sign Blind and instead move for Silva for Sporting.
The report says Roma will pay £5.2million for Silva, who has already reached an agreement on a five year contract.
Dortmund agree loan deal for Batshuayi
09:45: Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal to sign Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi for the remainder of the season, according to the BBC.
The Belgian international has travelled to undergo his medical as part of a deal that will see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang join Arsenal for a club-record fee.
Batshuayi’s imminent departure is likely to see Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud arrive at Stamford Bridge before 11pm this evening.
Aubameyang medical
09:30: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is undergoing his medical at Arsenal, according to Jim White.
The Sky Sports presenter sent Twitter into meltdown with his first tweet of the day.
He wrote: “It’s a Deadline Day Good Morning! Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang medical about to get underway.”
The Gabon international jetted into London yesterday after the Gunners agreed a £55.5m fee with the Bundesliga giants.
Aubameyang’s medical is taking place at Arsenal’s London Colney training base where he could bump into a few new team-mates today.
Ki snubs Hammers
09:15: Ki Sung-yueng has committed himself to Swansea’s survival battle and insisted his West Ham suitors “are no better than us”.
The Hammers are keen on adding Ki and Swansea team-mate Alfie Mawson to their own Premier League relegation scrap before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
But Swansea do not want to sell anyone and South Korean midfielder Ki – who is out of contract in the summer – plans to see out the season at the Liberty Stadium.
“I want to be here and if Swansea want me to stay here, then I can help this team stay in the Premier League,” Ki said.
“It is a difficult time but I don’t think I am going to leave. I don’t need to move. I don’t think West Ham are better than us.”
Transfer News: Roma have ended their interest in Man Utd defender Daley Blind
Adelaide loan move
09:05: Jeff Reine-Adelaide is set to join French side Angers on loan.
Reine-Adelaide is a highly rated prospect at Arsenal but injuries have disrupted his progress and meant he’s made no appearances for the club this season.
And in a bid to get more first-team experience, the 20-year-old looks set to move away before the transfer deadline shuts.
According to France Football, Angers have reached an agreement in principle with Arsenal to sign Reine-Adelaide until the end of the season.
The report states there will be no option to buy in the deal.
Double deal for United?!
09:00: It’s been pretty quiet around Old Trafford since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, but Sky Sports reporter James Cooper thinks a couple of players could leave the club today.
“We could have a couple of potential departures today. It does look like outgoings rather than incomings at the top of Manchester United’s list,” Cooper said.
“Our colleagues in Italy are reporting that Roma are in talks with Manchester United over the signing of Daley Blind.”
Aubameyang/Giroud/Batshuayi latest
08:55: Chelsea still need to agree a fee with Arsenal for Olivier Giroud before Michy Batshuayi can be loaned out and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can join the Gunners, according to BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein.
“We reached a deadlock,” he said. “That moved on today [Tuesday] and it seemed that consensus had been reached with Giroud joining Chelsea for around £20m, Batshuayi going to Dortmund and Aubameyang, who flew over to Arsenal’s training ground today [Tuesday] and is due to undergo a medical tomorrow [Wednesday], joining Arsenal.
“But then, later in the day, Marina Granovskaia, the Chelsea director and transfer negotiator, dug her heels in and tried to drive the price of Giroud down, who’s 31 years old.
“And Arsenal didn’t react well to that and sort of threatened to pull out of negotiations for Giroud with Chelsea and send him off to Dortmund so it would have been a straight swap with Aubameyang in terms of the clubs and Chelsea would have been cut out of the equation.
“However, I think the most likely outcome remains that Giroud will go to Chelsea, Aubameyang to Arsenal and Batshuayi to Dortmund.”
Transfer News: Is Alex Song on his way back to Arsenal?
Barca confident on Arthur deal
08:50: Barcelona are growing increasingly confident of signing Gremio midfielder Arthur today.
Spanish website Sport claim the Catalan giants saw their initial £26million offer rejected earlier this week.
Gremio value their talent at £43m, but are reportedly prepared to accept £32m plus performance-related add-ons.
No deal for Lemar
08:40: Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has reiterated that France international Thomas Lemar is not for sale this month.
“He will stay at Monaco until the end of the season 100 per cent,” Vasilyev told French radio station RMC.
“If Liverpool or Arsenal come with a big offer before the end of the market? This is not relevant.”
Gerrard worried about Can deal
08:35: Steven Gerrard admits he is concerned Emre Can is pushing for a transfer away from Anfield.
The Germany international is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to sign an extension to his existing deal.
“I think Liverpool have made him a better player and in Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff I think they are perfect for him,” Gerrard said on BT Sport.
“I think you can see that he’s been asked the question many times and if he had decided he was going to stay at Liverpool, I think everyone would know that by now.
“You still have that little bit of hope as a Liverpool fan that he might change his mind but for me, for it to go to the back end of January it’s a concern.”
Song pictured at Arsenal training ground
08:30: Alex Song has posted an image of himself at Arsenal’s training ground.
Song left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2012 after making 215 appearances in seven years for the Gunners.
He struggled to break into the first team at the Nou Camp and returned to England in 2014 with West Ham before joining Russian side Rubin Kazan in 2016.
But the Cameroon international is looking for a new club after the players were not paid for four months.
And on transfer deadline day, Song posted a picture on Snapchat of himself wearing an Arsenal training top with the caption: “No pain, no gain.”
Transfer News: Everton have entered the race to sign Manchester City outcast Eliaquim Mangala
Aubameyang deal could collapse
08:15: Arsenal move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang STILL hinges on Borussia Dortmund singing a replacement today.
Aubameyang is in London and has undergone a medical at Arsenal in the hope to be unveiled as the club’s new record signing this morning.
But the move could still collapse with Dortmund yet to sign a replacement and Sky Sports claim they will not sanction the sale until one is bought.
Dortmund were in for Olivier Giroud although a loan move for Michy Batshuayi now appears most likely, but that still depends on Chelsea getting a replacement in.
Matters are complicated further by the German transfer window shutting at 5pm – with the UK deadline not until 11pm.
So Dortmund need to get their move for a new striker sorted before 5pm to allow Aubameyang to complete his move to Arsenal.
Aubameyang has agreed a three-year deal to join Arsenal on £180,000 a week, becoming the club’s highest paid player.
Alfredo Morelos latest
08.05: Rangers are hopeful of keeping Alfredo Morelos for the rest of the season but face missing out on a Chinese windfall.
Chinese Super League club Beijing Renhe has made a move for the striker and are ready to pay him £75,000 a week.
But Graeme Murty wants to keep the Colombian hitman in his squad with the hope that his value will keep rising.
Rangers signed Morelos for just £1m and have been offered around £6.5m six months on.
But Murty wants Morelos to help steer Rangers clear in second place with just hours remaining in the transfer window.
The Chinese window doesn’t shut until later in February so interest in unlikely to go away when the clock strikes 12 tonight.
But Rangers would need a replacement in before midnight to sanction the sale.
Everton want Mangala
07:55: Everton have entered the race to sign Manchester City outcast Eliaquim Mangala, according to reports.
Newcastle and West Ham are known to be interested in the centre-back, who was pushed further down the pecking order after the arrival of Athletic Bilbao star Aymeric Laporte yesterday.
And now Everton are hoping to take the defender on loan until the end of the season, report the Times.
“Everton interested in Manchester City left-footed defender Eliaquim Mangala on loan,” the Times journalist wrote on Twitter.

Whoops! Wenger confirms transfer
07:50: Was this a deliberate mistake to deflect from last night’s defeat? Conspiracy theorists – start your engines!
Arsenal have seemingly accidentally leaked news of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
Aubameyang arrived at Arsenal’s training ground yesterday afternoon for a medical but there has been no official announcement yet.
However, following last night’s 3-1 defeat to Swansea, Arsenal accidentally posted a video (below) of Wenger confirming the striker’s move.
“Aubameyang is an Arsenal player, you must be delighted to get the deal done?” an interviewer said.
The French boss replies: “Yes, it’s good news. We need people who can give us more offensive power. We aren’t efficient enough going forward.
“He has a big challenge in front of him, he wants to win the Premier League. It’s absolutely good news for us.”
Late Man Utd swoop
07:45: Manchester United are plotting a late January transfer dash, but they face fierce competition from Barcelona and Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho is hoping to tempt Monaco’s 16-year-old centre-back Benoit Badiashile to Old Trafford as his final deal this window.
Monaco won the French top division last season but went on to lose Kylian Mbappe to Paris Saint-Germain, while Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva joined Man City.
And Foot Mercato say the champions are preparing themselves to lose another one of their top young talents.
They list Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Barcelona, City and United as the potential destinations for the youngster.
Real Madrid plot Griezmann deal
07:30: Antoine Griezmann has emerged as a shock transfer target for Real Madrid, reports claim.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, while Manchester United have also been interested in his signature.
But Spanish publication Don Balon claim Zinedine Zidane’s side have thrown a spanner in the works but contacting their rivals about Griezmann’s availability.
They suggest that president Florentino Perez views Griezmann as a bargain in comparison to other options Harry Kane, Eden Hazard and Paolo Dybala.
But whether Atletico are willing to do business with their arch rivals remains to be seen.
Aubameyang to be finalised this morning
07:15: Arsene Wenger has revealed what time Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s deal will be completed today.
The 28-year-old was at Arsenal’s training complex yesterday completing the formalities ahead of the switch, having flown to the capital from Dortmund.
And when Wenger was asked when the deal will be completed, he said: “We will know about that tomorrow morning.”
So all fingers now point to the deal behind confirmed early today.
Giroud deal hangs in the balance – Balague
07:00: Sky Sports reporter Guillem Balague has claimed Chelsea and Arsenal are still someway apart in their valuation for Olivier Giroud.
Chelsea lodged a bid to sign Giroud from Arsenal on Monday with his place at the club in jeopardy as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completes his £55million move to the Emirates.
Arsenal are open to Giroud leaving the club, but Balague insists they want close to £30m for the Frenchman.
“They wanted to leave Giroud away from this deal because they felt it could be an option for him,” Balague said on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.
“They feel that more than one club are interested in him so they want to get around £28m-£30m for Giroud which seems quite optimistic.
“When Chelsea got into the equation and there was an offer last night [Monday], it was £20m, not the £15m being mentioned.
“They were close to it but Chelsea retrieved the offer because Arsenal did not answer on time. There’s going to be so many twists and turns on this merry-go-round.”
Sevilla to sign Everton’s Ramirez
06:45: Everton forward Sandro Ramirez has joined Sevilla on loan for the rest of the season, subject to a medical.
The summer arrival from Malaga has failed to live up to expectations on Merseyside, not managing to score a league goal.
The 22-year-old netted only once in 15 games in all competitions, in the Europa League.
Sevilla also confirmed the imminent completion of the transfer.
In a statement on their website, the La Liga club said: “At just 22 years old the Canary Island native has the chance to recapture his spectacular growth in past seasons and find a place in Vincenzo Montella’s attacking line-up.”
Foxes send Mahrez warning
06:30: Leicester have slapped a £90million price-tag on Riyad Mahrez to put off Arsenal and Manchester City, reports claim.
Mahrez has put in a transfer request, although with the window slamming shut at 11pm tonight, he hasn’t given himself much time to complete a deal.
Mahrez is more eager to join Arsenal, Express Sport understands, and he has bought a property in London.
Express Sport also understands Pep Guardiola is eyeing up a late swoop to bring the 2016 PFA Player of the Season to the Etihad.
A £60m bid has already been submitted by City, but the Mirror claim Leicester are demanding £90m for Mahrez’s services.
