I may be a huge fan of the iPad, but Amazon’s Fire tablets have impressed me every time I’ve gotten to try them.
They’re inexpensive (especially right now), but powerful enough for casual uses, like web browsing and Netflix.
If you know someone who’s about to get one for the holidays, do them a favor and get some of the accessories below; though a Fire Tablet is great on its own, these extras make it even better.

A case
Amazon
Nobody wants to have to send their new gadget in for repairs, so get the new Fire Tablet owner in your life a case. I’ve chosen foldable cases below because they offer front and back protection and prop up the tablet, making it easy for them to watch videos when they’re on the go.
Amazon Fire 7 Tablet Case, $ 24.99, available at Amazon
MoKo Case for Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet, $ 11.95, available at Amazon
MoKo Case for Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet, $ 17.59, available at Amazon
A longer charging cable
Anker
Using a longer charging cable doesn’t seem like it’d make that big of a difference, but it really does. This one from Anker is six feet long, comes with an 18-month warranty, and will keep you from feeling constrained if you use the Fire Tablet while it’s charging.
Anker PowerLine Micro USB Cable (6ft), $ 5.99, available at Amazon
A screen protector
Amazon
Like a case, a screen protector will keep the Fire Tablet from accumulating nicks and scratches from everyday use. I’m recommending OMOTON’s screen protectors because they’re highly rated and available for each type of Fire Tablet.
OMOTON Fire 7 Screen Protector, $ 14.99, available at Amazon
OMOTON Fire HD 8 Screen Protector, $ 12.85, available at Amazon
OMOTON Fire HD 10 Screen Protector, $ 10.99, available at Amazon
