The job of Buick’s flagship sedan is difficult—to keep current customers happy and also entice new buyers to the brand—but the svelte LaCrosse is ready for the task. Depending on its equipment, the LaCrosse can either be a plush-riding land yacht or, thanks to an optional adaptive suspension, 20-inch wheels, and available all-wheel drive, a corner-confident all-weather touring sedan. The LaCrosse’s standard V-6 engine is adequately muscular and does a commendable job of conserving fuel. Other large sedans in this category are slightly roomier and faintly quieter, while offering their suites of active safety equipment for fewer dollars. Even so, the big Buick provides plush accommodations for four adults, a high-tech infotainment and connectivity suite, and fetching styling that won’t look out of place at the valet stand.
