Wonder Woman 1984 delayed for DC reboot to REPLACE Batman and Superman actors?

Have audiences really seen the last of the Batfleck and Cavill’s Man of Steel?

Warner Bros’ entire Justice League plans have hit so many bumps on the road to the big screen it is understandable if they want to try and start all over again.

Cavill seems to be focussing all his attention on the upcoming Witcher Netflix show while Affleck, for a change, has reignited rumours he may still be involved with the spin-off The Batman film after emerging from rehab looking pumped and ready.

However, a shock new rumour claims that neither actor may have much opportunity to pick up their capes, since WB is already setting plans in motion for a soft reboot of the entire DCEU.

Grace Randolph at Beyond The Trailer is claiming that Wonder Woman 1984’s shock bump seven months back in schedules is due to rewrites which will introduce a new timeline and allow the studio to change storylines and stars moving foward.

The report certainly ties in with the Wonder Woman sequel being set coveniently three decades before the current Justice League timeline and it already has the perfect Flashpoint-style reason in place for why Diana would do such a monumental thing to the timeline.

Randolph reporst that WB are taking the Flashpoint plot awaty from teh postponed Flash movei and working something similar into WW 1984.

This cold be bad news for Cavill and Affleck as well as Jared Leto and even Jason Momoa if his solo movie underperforms.

Randolph said: “Significant reshoots are coming. I am hearing that the movie is going to be reworked and become Wonder Woman 1984: Flashpoint. I don’t know if its going to be called that – but that’s essentially what it is. Which means the upcoming Flash movie is just a regular Flash movie.”

Comicbook fans already know that Geoff John’s classic Flashpoint series explores an alternate timeline where Barry Allen changes the timeline by saving his mother. In the ripples a young Bruce Wayne is killed in the attack outside the theatre and his parents survive. Thomas Wayne becomes Batman, instead, while Martha turns in The Joker.

Randolph says Diana Prince will also make the massive change to the past (and so the present) for love: “Diana, like all of us, isn’t willing to let Steve go a second time, saves him and therefore alters the timeline.”

Randolph stresses the Wonder Woman reboot is not Flashpoint and will not include the specific details of that series. Instead it gives WB the perfect opportunity to try and restart the entire DC franchise and cherry pick who and what they want to keep and discard.

She added: “Such a story would allow major changes in the DCEU without having to recast everyone – although I hear it is almost everyone.”

Randolph points out that the comicbooks already have storylines where Diana saves Steve, and even where he himself become immortal.

Steve Trevor also crosses into the Suicide Squad stories to assist Amande Waller with the misfit team, which could work nicely in the upcoming Suicide Squad reboot under James Gunn.
