Why women cheat: A cheating wife or girlfriend might have THIS major reason

A cheating wife or girlfriend could be indulging in their unfaithful behaviour as a reaction to their partner’s, a new study has found.

While men generally tend to pursue extra marital relations for their own satisfaction, women are far more likely to have an affair as an act of revenge.

Women claimed that revenge was a motive for their cheating in 14 per cent of cases.

On the other hand only nine per cent of men claim that getting back at their partner was the reason they cheated.

A woman scorned is far more likely to take measures to get her own back on her partner if he has cheated before, in a bid to settle the score.

However, this actions – though satisfying – may not be the healthiest way to feel better and, if you want to, get your relationship with your significant other back on track.

An expert, physiologist Guy Winch, has warned against “retaliation affairs” in an article for Psychology Today.

He said: “A lack of engagement is often a precursor to affairs. Having a retaliation affair will cause you to disengage even further and create an even greater emotional gulf between you and your partner.”

More women revealed another reason they might cheat on their partner.

Research found women who were given less presents were more likely to sleep with someone else.

Researchers found 69 per cent of women cheated on their partners because they weren’t given enough presents. They claimed the presents made them feel valued by their other halves.

Twenty-nine over cent of women said a strict lack of presents was a turn-off in a relationship.

But do women or men cheat more? A study claims to have revealled the truth behind this eternal question.

Statistics show that almost two thirds of men admit to cheating, at 57 per cent.

Women on the other hand, are almost just as bad.

According to website Infidelity Facts, 54 per cent of women admit to cheating.
