What is Three Girls about?
The new BBC drama is based on the Rochdale grooming scandal which horrified the nation in 2012.
At least 47 young girls were sexually abused, raped and trafficked by a group of nine men who were all jailed for child sex offences.
The BBC says: “The drama looks at the way in which these girls were groomed, how they were ignored by the authorities directly responsible for protecting them, and how they eventually made themselves heard.”
Maxine Peake plays Sara Rowbotham, a sexual health worker who alerted DC Margaret Oliver (Lesley Sharp) to the atrocities after years of being ignored by police.
When is Three Girls on?
Three Girls begins tonight at 9pm on BBC One, and continues at the same time tomorrow and Thursday.
All three episodes will be made available to watch online on BBC iPlayer after each one has aired.
Who is Molly Windsor?
Molly, 19, was born in Nottingham, where she continues to live and train at the city’s Television Workshop and Actors Studio.
Her breakthrough role came at age 11 in Samantha Morton’s TV film The Unloved, in which she played another abused child.
Molly’s followed the BAFTA-winning drama with parts in Oranges and Sunshine and When the Lights Went Out, before taking a break to finish her education.
She told Screen Daily: “I was going through the education system and college. It wasn’t a deliberate break and I wasn’t in a rush to get any work but, at the same time, I know that if a job had come up that I really wanted to do, I would have done it.”
“I’m glad that I got to go to college and have that experience, but I know that my priority is acting. I’d choose that any day.”
Molly’s older brother is the drummer in rock band Fahran.
