Where is Gunpowder set?

Gunpowder is largely set in London in 1605 as it focusses on Robert’s plan to blow up Parliament. 

However, some of the series is set in surrounding countryside, with Liv Tyler who stars as Anne Vaux revealing that is where she spent most of her time. 

Where was Gunpowder filmed?

Gunpowder was filmed in a number of locations throughout Yorkshire including Keighley, Ilkley, Kirkstall and Beverley. 

Kirkstall Abbey, which is in Leeds and founded as a place of worship in 1152, is one of the many places the BBC series was shot. 

Filming also took place on a section of moorland between Ilkley and Keighley as well as at National Trust-owned Grade 1 listed property East Riddlesden Hall. 

Oakwell Hall, Dalton Mills and Beverley Minster were also used as locations for Gunpowder. 

Haddon Hall, which has over 900 years of history, magnificent gardens and its own chapel, also features in the series. 

The building, which dates back to the 12th Century has been used as a location for Pride and Prejudice and The Other Boleyn Girl. 

When does Gunpowder air and how many episodes will there be?

Gunpowder begins on Saturday on BBC One at 9.10pm.

The BBC series is made up of three instalments and stars Kit, Liv Tyler, Mark Gatiss and Pete Mullan.
