If you notice a lack of ear wax then you could have “keratitis obturans”. This illness causes earwax to build up and create a hard plug in the ear.

Watery and green ear wax is a sign that you have been sweating – and that sweat has dripped into your ear, mixing with the wax.
However, dark yellow watery wax is a sign of infection. Other signs of infection include a strong odour.
“You could get a foul-smelling drainage from your ear,” Dr Comer said.

A noticeable chuck of wax coming out of your ear is also a sign of an issue inside the ear canal.
Tears or infections will grow into a cyst-like lump and then fall out.

To get rid of ear wax you can soften the wax, allowing it to come out more easily.
Healthline.com said over-the-counter drops can be purchased made especially for this. Or you ca use mineral oil, hydrogen peroxide, carbamide peroxide, baby oil or glycerin.
You can also irrigate the ear at home, but be careful when doing this as it could cause hearing loss or infection if you ear already has damage.
The NHS said: “Earwax is produced inside your ears to keep them clean and free of germs. It usually passes out of the ears harmlessly, but sometimes too much can build up and block the ears.”
