The UTV, or side-by-side, is becoming a popular motorized machine, and drivers are doing some impressive things with them. We’ve even seen Gymkhana– or Recoil-caliber videos featuring the little off-roaders. So it makes sense that Top Gear America would take a look at side-by-sides to find out what they’re like and which is the best.
Of course, being a Top Gear show, the hosts aren’t the amazing driving demons that we’ve seen in other places. In the exclusive clip above, you’ll see them roll up to something called Fishtail Mountain. It’s basically a tall, fairly steep hill, and the goal is to do a powerslide as close to the top as possible. Unsurprisingly, only the drag racer, Antron, seems to be confident in doing this.
The clip only shows the hill contest, but the full comparison will air this Sunday during the latest episode of the show. Besides the side-by-sides, the hosts will learn about lowriders and lowrider culture, while the Stig will go for a spin in the Toyota Land Speed Cruiser. That would be the 2,000-horsepower, 220-mph Land Cruiser Toyota built for SEMA last year. The full episode airs Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern time on BBC America.
