WATCH: Pilot films plane filling with smoke only to CRASH LAND in a field

A viral video shows the moment a pilot was forced to crash land into a field after the cockpit of the plane filled with smoke.

The pilot, who was a retired naval aviator, was flying with his son and his son’s girlfriend from Virgin to Alabama when the incident occurred.

Three hours into the flight, a loud pop can be heard before the engine fails.

What happens next makes for a terrifying watch.

Suddenly, oil appears on the windscreen of the flight before smoke fills the cockpit of the plane.

The pilot is seen pointing to a field in the distance, before aiming for it to crash land in.

The propeller on the front of the aircraft slows down as the plane descends due to the lack of power.

As the video ends, a scream can be heard as the plane slides into the field and is stopped by a large tree.

An official report stated: “The airplane was too far away to glide to the destination airport, so the pilot chose to perform a forced landing to a field.”

Thankfully, there were no fatalities after it crashed with just small injuries reported from the passengers.

They then made it to their Thanksgiving meal with the rest of their family.

It isn’t the first time a plane crash was caught on camera.

Filmed by a camera on the dashboard of a car, a plane can be seen hovering close to a motorway as it attempts to land.

A police car can be seen turning on their lights and speeding towards the crash site.

The plane can be seen having crashed into a tree on the side of the road, thankfully having avoided any cars

No-one was seriously injured on the plane or on the ground.
